General FAQ

  • There’s truly no bad time to visit the city! I recommend coming in the spring (May) or fall (Sept/Oct) so the weather is on its best behavior, but truly any time is great.

  • Yes and no. This depends on what your definition of safety is. Just make sure to be aware of your surroundings and don’t look anyone in the eye LOL. Just kidding.. kind of. But seriously, stay alert, be mindful of your belongings, and avoid empty subway cars.

  • The subway! NYC has some of the *best* public transportation systems in the U.S. so you should take advantage of that. For only $2.90 you have access to all 5 boroughs. You can either use a metro card or tap to pay.

  • I recommend spending at least 5 days in the city to truly enjoy everything! If you have more time, 2 weeks would be ideal to explore all of the boroughs.

  • I absolutely love looking at blogs to find the most in depth details for trips! One of my favorites is theblondeabroad. I also use Facebook groups to ask questions from locals or people who have recently visited.

    I check YouTube videos to familiarize myself with areas I may be interested in.

    Google maps is my go to for mapping out exactly where I want to go and noting the distance.

    And finally tiktok of course, although I find it only shows you the highlights not key details.

  • I always use google flights and compare against sites like sky scanner. I’ve heard Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the best days to look Make sure you look on private browsing mode only so the price does not increase due to search history.

  • Start with something local to get comfortable with doing things solo! Then do the research! I love watching solo vlogs on YouTube to see people’s experiences.

  • It’s common for those that care about us to be concerned with a solo trip. This concern is not limited to parents, but spouses, siblings, and friends may all have valid reasons to be worried about you traveling solo.
